Welcome New and Returning Students!

By August 14, 2026Theatre

The stages are opening, the classrooms are coming back to life, and a new year of making bold work together is about to begin. Whether you’re brand-new to K-State Theatre or returning for another season, we want you there for a full week of connection, conversation, and performance.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 21

10:00–11:30 a.m. — School of Music, Theatre, and Dance Kickoff
Kirmser Hall

Start the year with the entire School of Music, Theatre, and Dance! Theatre is a vital part of one of K-State’s fastest-growing schools. Meet students and faculty across Theatre, Music, and Dance, make some new connections, and get a first look at what’s ahead.

MONDAY, AUGUST 24

First Day of Classes

6:00 p.m. — Theatre Meet and Greet and KSTO Ice Cream Social
Beginning in Chapman Theatre, followed by ice cream in front of Nichols Hall

Theatre majors, minors, Drama Therapy students, Theatre faculty, and friends of K-State Theatre are all welcome. Reconnect with familiar faces, welcome our newest students and faculty, and help us kick off an exciting year!

TUESDAY, AUGUST 25

3:30 p.m. — Community, Wellness, the Arts, and You + NYC Trip
Chapman Theatre

This is an essential first-week event for all Theatre majors and minors, Drama Therapy students, and students interested in Theatre—no matter where you are in the program. Representatives from CARE and the Office of Civil Rights and Title IX will join us for a practical conversation about building a creative community where people can work bravely, collaboratively, and with the support they need. Stay afterward to hear about the Fall Theatre Trip to New York City and how you can be part of it. Please make this event a priority.

7:00–10:00 p.m. — Cabaret Auditions
Chapman Theatre, Nichols Hall

Step into the Kit Kat Klub! Auditions are open to every K-State student. Singers, dancers, actors, and adventurous newcomers are all encouraged to join us. A separate audition post with preparation and sign-up details will be shared early next week. This production will be performed in McCain Auditorium.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 26

7:00–10:00 p.m. — Cabaret Callbacks

This season asks what we owe one another—onstage, in our classrooms, and in our community. We can’t wait to welcome you back and see what we create together.
