The Tragedy of Norton I Audition Information

Auditions: Wednesday November 16, 6:00-10:30, Nichols 017.

Short scenes and monologues will be provided for reading at auditions. There is no need to memorize anything prior to auditioning.

The play follows a fictional and non-linear view of the historic figure of Emperor Norton I. The story follows his rise and fall as a figure of San Franciscan society and his impact on people, politics, and American life.

6 Roles:

Norton – Male. An eccentric bum who declares himself Emperor of the United States

M – Female. A human embodiment of the American dream.

Ensemble (4) – Four gender non-specific characters that act as different various characters throughout the play.
