The Glimmerglass Festival Internship Information

Hello,

I am writing from The Glimmerglass Festival in Cooperstown, New York, a professional, non-profit arts organization producing opera and musical theater every July and August. Mainstage productions are complemented by events with renowned personalities from literature to Broadway with a focus on thought-provoking programs. The Festival is also a training ground for future theater professionals through our Summer Internship Program, where students work directly with noted professionals under the guidance of supervisors and staff from many of the best theaters, opera companies and schools in the nation.

In the fast-paced and challenging environment at the Festival, interns learn a variety of skills, including efficient scenery construction, production rental procedures, and most importantly — safe working practices. Alumni of the Glimmerglass Festival Internship Program now work in theaters across the country, including the Metropolitan Opera, Guthrie Theater, The Public Theater and on Broadway productions like Hamilton and Book of Mormon, as well as commercial scene shops such as ShowMotion and TAIT Towers.

We are currently accepting internship applications in all departments (A/V, Carpentry/Rigging, Costume Crafts, Costumes, Dramaturg, Electrics, Hair/Makeup, Lighting/Scene Design, Photography, Production Administration, Properties, Scenic Art, Stage Management, Stage Operations, Technical Direction, and Wardrobe) and have several staff positions open in various departments as well. Interns are provided housing and a weekly tax-free stipend of $250 a week. The deadline to apply is March 1, 2019.
