By May 12, 2020News

Greetings!

Magic Theatre’s Apprentice Class of 2020 (Sean Dunnington, Hannah Meyer, and Hunter Nelson) is thrilled to invite you to the 2020 Apprentice Showcase. On Monday, May 18 at 7 p.m. PST (10 p.m. EST), we will present the first-ever public workshop presentation of The Children’s Farm, a new play by Sean Dunnington, directed by Hannah Meyer, with dramaturgy by Hunter Nelson. The reading will feature Martha Brigham*, Marilet Martinez*, and Carson McCalley*. The presentation will be held over Zoom and last about 90 minutes (link below).

Access the Zoom here: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85734136356

No RSVP is necessary, but this is an internal presentation, so please do not share the link on social media or with the general public [K-State MTD was an approved location to post!]

About the play: In The Children’s Farm, Maria wraps herself in fantastic worlds of wonder and love after being sent to live with her cousins Joey and Lauren (and their sock puppets), but when reality threatens her fantasy and buried seeds burst to the surface, it’s socks off for all. Traversing a decade of role-playing and therapy, Sean Dunnington’s new play weighs forced family, roots, and finding freedom on the farm.

The audience is an integral piece of making any new play, so it would mean a lot to us if you would be our first. Please plan to join us about 15 minutes early to ensure that your technology is cooperating. Once you’ve successfully joined the Zoom, we hope you’ll partake in our audience participation polls!

Please note: your audio and video will automatically be muted when you enter the Zoom call to minimize interference for our actors. Please remain on mute until the presentation has concluded and please refrain from typing in the chat during the presentation.

After the presentation, we will stay on the call for some post-show celebrating, so please stick around!

If you’ve never used Zoom before, you will have to download the application on your computer and sign up for an account, but it’s easy and free. You’ll want to do that ahead of time by going to zoom.com.

We look forward to “seeing” you!

Warmly,
