Message From Region V:

Hello Region 5 – Here are some more news items as we keep truckin’ toward Festival 51 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota

ALL FORMS ARE NOW OPEN ON THE WEBSITE!!!  Thank you for your patience as we have updated our website.  The updates are complete and all events are now open for enrollment.  You can declare your intent to participate in various events like the EXPO, Musical Theatre Intensive, Professional Auditions and so much more!  Please note that some events do have a maximum capacity and are filled on a first-come-first-served basis, so please spread the word!  As a reminder, you must create a login to access the entry forms. If you haven’t created a username but are prompted to login, you may enter your information at the log in prompt to register a new username.

Call for Workshops – Region 5 seeks introductory through advanced level workshops in all areas of theatre, including acting, design, technology, directing, playwriting, dramaturgy, criticism, management, musical theatre, dance, stage combat, movement, voice, teaching, professional preparation, pedagogy and more. We are seeking workshop submissions specifically focused on the theme of Inspiring Our Global Community through Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.  Please consider sharing your talents and expertise by offering a workshop. Go here for more information and to submit your workshop proposal by December 7, 2018.

Festival Registration is now Open and Easier! – Registration for Festival 51 is open AND you can now pay online via square! You can register for the festival here.

Student Advisory Board  – We are seeking nominations for students to serve on the new Region 5 Student Advisory Board.  These students will play a valuable role in continuing to plan and innovate the Region 5 experience. The Student Advisory Board provides feedback to the regional executive committee. Students interested in having a voice in festival programming should apply here. Student Advisory board members should plan on attending the festival and participating in a meeting near the end of the festival week. Please contact Vice-Chair Brad M. Carlson carlsonbm@missouri.edu with any questions.

Hotel Announcement is coming soon – The list of hotels available for Festival 51 will be announced in early November.  All hotels have asked that no one call for reservations prior to then.  I can tell you that this is a completely walkable festival and the festival hotels are all within one block of each other! As an added bonus, all hotels have breakfast!  More on this in the coming weeks.

I look forward to seeing you all in January and I get more excited for our festival with each passing day!  -Region V Organizers
