Fall 2018/Spring 2019 Theatre Education Program Staff
The C.L. Hoover Opera House is looking for 2 outstanding persons to participate as Director/Choreographer and Music Director/Assistant Director for an after-school program for 25-30 Junction City Middle School Students. This program will take place at the historic C.L. Hoover Opera House in Junction City, KS.
Description:
ASTRA (After School Theatre Repertory Actors) is a pilot program with the goal of inspiring, educating and enriching our youth via the theater experience.
Using theater as a tool, we will help our students develop soft skills as well as further their theater arts experience.
The directors will begin mid-August for the fall term and will work Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 – 5:45pm through December 6th with a performance on either December 7th or December 8th. Pay will be $100/wk (four months @ $400 per month, $1600/term).
The directors will report to and work in cooperation with the program administrator who will also coordinate set design and costumes.
A successful fall term will insure that the directors may return for the Spring term in January.
Requirements:
We are looking for two people with musical theater experience and directing experience. We are specifically looking for theater students/graduates who are passionate, positive, energetic, and believe in theater as a tool for social development.
We expect Director 1 to have directing and choreography skills. Director 2 will need musical direction skills and assist with the staging. Being able to play the piano is a plus, but not an absolute necessity.
