City of Manhattan Flag Design Contest

By February 13, 2019News

Calling all artists! The City of Manhattan is seeking designs for a new city flag. Entries from the public will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 29. Entry forms are available online at cityofmhk.com/flag or in person at City Hall, located at 1101 Poyntz Avenue.

The City’s Arts and Humanities Advisory Board members will review design entries and narrow down the finalists. The public will vote on the final selection, but depending on the number of entries there will be either one or two different voting opportunities. The public voting period will take place in May.

“We’re hoping to create a symbol for the City of Manhattan that reflects the community, helps to unite us, and instill a sense of pride. A great city flag is something citizens are proud to display and can rally behind. The possibilities are endless on where and how the flag may be displayed and utilized. Hopefully, the flag will become so popular that we’ll not only see it on every street, but maybe on t-shirts, car magnets, and much more” says Assistant City Manager Dennis Marstall.

The winner will be awarded recognition by the Mayor of Manhattan, will be acknowledged on the City’s website, and will receive a flag printed with the final design. Terms and conditions of the contest are available on the City of Manhattan’s website at www.cityofmhk.com/flag. Any questions about the contest can be directed to the City Manager’s Office at 785-587-2404.
