CASE WESTERN RESERVE UNIVERSITY/CLEVELAND PLAY HOUSE MFA

By August 29, 2018Grad School, News, Theatre

For over 20 years, the 2015 Regional Theatre Tony Award winner, Cleveland Play House (CPH) has partnered with Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) to offer an MFA in Acting.

This year, the CWRU/CPH MFA Acting Program was named in the Hollywood Reporter’s annual list of top drama schools: 15th in America and 18th internationally. It was a great honor and more importunely has allowed more prospective candidates to learn about our program and what we offer.

The attached flyer outlines the major features of the program including its strong financial package that includes a three-year tuition-free education, a generous living stipend and membership in Actors Equity Association upon successful completion of the program. This is followed by a highly regarded New York City Industry Showcase. (This year, all of our graduates found representation through the showcase).

The third year of training allows students to appear in at least one Cleveland Play House production as well as experience understudy and workshop opportunities.

As we only take eight students every other year, the program is ideal for those who want the kind of personal attention that is impossible to get at schools with larger numbers.

I might also add that we charge no audition fees, which is unique among graduate acting programs.

We are committed to seeing as many applicants as possible and to this end, we are holding both independent auditions as well as participating with U/RTA this year.

The online application process is now active and can be found at clevelandplayhouse.com/mfa under AUDITIONS.

We will be auditioning candidates in Cleveland, Jan 12-13; New York City, Jan 17-21 and 24-25 and Chicago Jan 26 – 29 and February 5-6, 2019.

Audition locations are TBA.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
