About the musical:
An American in Beirut tells the story of Jack and Anna two Lebanese-Americans lost in their own way. Jack struggles to find meaning for himself in his world of elite business tycoons while Anna works to connect with a family she’s never known. Through Beirut’s vibrant culture and energy, they discover who they really are and maybe even learn to love.

Characters:

Jack (20s, Male): A young yet successful businessman, cynical, judgmental, and existential; however, deep down he thirsts for something new.

Anna (20s, Female): A nerdy and aloof student searching for her family tree. Determined, curious, and inquisitive.

Nabila: (40s or 50s, Female): A Lebanese matriarch defined as much by her lavish parties as by the gossip she spreads. She believes unequivocally in Beirut as the panacea for any of life’s struggles. Wife to Elie.

Elie: (40s or 50s, Male): A Lebanese architect and business partner to Jack. While he carries wisdom of experience, he would rather teach a lesson through a practical joke than through a lecture. Husband to Nabila.

There will be four chorus members of each voice range (Baritone, Tenor, Alto, Soprano). They will play various characters throughout the musical.
