4th Broadway Stage Management Symposium

Broadway Stage Management Symposium

We are approaching the fourth iteration of the annual conference for stage managers, built by stage managers. The response from previous years has been overwhelming.

  • “I feel so empowered by the past few days and I greatly look forward to incorporating what I’ve learned.”– Samantha Gruskin
  • “Amazing weekend! I’ve learned so much & am so excited to get back into a theatre & work. I plan on returning next year!” – Abi Rowe
  • “An insightful forum.  The past two days were truly packed with invaluable information and wonderful laughs…”– Richard Leigh Nilson
  • “One of the best opportunities for Stage Managers that I have seen. Something really special happened in that room” – Matt Bur
  • “An incredible motivating inspirational weekend.”– Hope Levine

Each year, we bring together many of the best Broadway stage managers to share their insights on the art and craft of stage management and the skills that lead to a successful career. During the two days of the Symposium, a variety of topics are covered. This year we have put together a very powerful program, including sessions about:

  • Work / Life Balance & Motherhood,
  • Gender & Diversity
  • Harassment & the #metoo movement
  • Cultivating Relationships with Directors
  • Maintaining a Show
  • The move from Production Assistant to an ASM
  • and many more

Each panel includes time for Q&A with the panelists and ample networking opportunities are built in to the schedule to create connections and build our community. In addition, the “mini trade show” gives access to companies and organizations to share technologies and services valuable to stage managers. But most importantly, this is the place where the top managers in our industry come together to share their experience and knowledge, creating an insightful and inspiring event.

Our amazing line up of speakers this year includes the stage managers from the Broadway productions of:

·         Disney’s Frozen

·         Once On This Island

·         The Iceman Cometh

·         Jersey Boys

·         Amelie

·         Dear Evan Hansen

·         The Band’s Visit

·         Angels In America

·         Bandstand

·         and many more

·         SpongeBob SquarePants

·         Six Degrees of Separation

·         Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark

·         Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812

Together, our speakers represent over 100 Broadway productions!  This chance to sit down and speak with these incredible stage managers is a rare and valuable opportunity for young stage managers, experienced theatre practitioners or anyone interested in how a Broadway show really gets put together.
