Theatre Student for a Day on Thurs – Come Join Us/Help Needed

Hey All,

We have our annual Theatre Student for a Day on Thursday. I’d love for you to join us and help! It’s super simple, fun and with just 3 minutes of your time you have helped contribute to the program. But there are other options as well: Consider any or all of these options and email me at sbskelton@ksu.edu asap!

  1. Be a greeter from 9:00-9:30am in Nichols Lobby
  2. Participate in Warm-Ups and Games at 9:30am!
  3. Eat lunch at Kramer with us! We will pay if non-resident.
  4. Walk students to classes from Nichols lobby for 11:30 Theatre class (see below)/Walk students back to Nichols lobby at end of 11:30 Theatre class
  5. Walk students to classes from Nichols lobby for 1:05 Theatre class/Walk students to Chapman after 1:05 Theatre class
  6. Participate in Student Roundtable at 2:30pm in Chapman
  7. Walk to Varsity at 3pm from Chapman for free donuts.

Parking: Kansas State Union Parking Garage

9:00am-9:30am: Registration, Lobby of Nichols Hall

9:30am: Welcome – Nichols Hall, Chapman Theatre

9:45-10:15am: Chapman Theatre: Games and Warm-Ups
with Performers and Drama Therapy Students Adam Blodgett and Eleanor Nesimoglu

10:15-10:45am: Tour of Theatre Spaces and Shops with Dr. Shannon Blake Skelton
Students and Dr. Skelton leave from Chapman Theatre as a group and tour Nichols, McCain, and the Purple Masque.

10:45am-10:55am: Walk to Kramer Dining Hall
From the Purple Masque we will walk to Kramer Dining Hall. If there is inclement weather or students choose to drive with their teacher to Kramer Dining Hall, there is parking in the adjacent lot.

10:55am-11:20am: Eat in Kramer Dining Hall

11:20am-11:30am: Walk back to Nichols Hall Lobby
Students will accompany guides to usher them to classes.

11:30-12:45pm Block 1
Intermediate Acting with Prof. Joelle Arp-Dunham (Nichols 017, basement level)

Contemporary Dance with Prof. Stephen Loch (Nichols 008, basement level)

Stage Combat: Fun with Swords with Prof. Dan Ireton (Nichols 009, basement level)

Lighting Design with Prof. James Davis (Nichols 122, main level)

Practice in Directing with Prof. Jerry Jay Cranford (West Stadium 117, Purple Masque)

12:45-1:05pm: Break in Lobby of Nichols Hall
Please return to the lobby of Nichols Hall; guides will usher you to block 2 of classes.

1:05 – 2:20pm Block 2
Creative Drama with Prof. Sally Bailey (Drama Therapy Classroom, West Stadium 117, Purple Masque)

Improvisation with Prof. Jerry Jay Cranford (Nichols 017, basement level)

Scenic Design Session with Resident Designer Ann Dee Alvidrez (meet in Chapman Theatre, main level)

Stage Combat: Fun with Swords with Prof. Dan Ireton (Nichols 009, basement level)

Intro Tap Class with Jae Seefeldt (Nichols 026, basement level)

2:20-2:30pm – Return to Nichols and report to Chapman Theatre

2:30-3:00pm – Current K-State Student Roundtable: High School Students Ask Questions About Life in College (Chapman Theatre, ground level)

3:00 – Walk Down to Varsity for Donuts and Depart
We will leave from Chapman and walk down to Varsity. Teachers can also drive to Varsity and leave directly from Aggieville if they choose.
