The Flick Stage Reading
by Annie Baker
AUDITION INFO: Tuesday, November 12th
Chapman Theatre in Nichols Hall
6:00 – 8:00 pm
Audition info: The audition will take place on Tuesday, November 2nd at Chapman Theatre in Nichols hall. 6:00-8:00. The performance will be January 31st, 2020. There will most likely be rehearsal time before the semester starts.
Please read the script! Reading the play beforehand ensures you would be comfortable rehearsing/performing the language and content conveyed in “The Flick”. However, if you can’t here is a basic breakdown of the plot and characters. . .
In a run-down movie theater in central Massachusetts, three underpaid employees mop the floors and tend to one of the last 35mm film projectors in the state. A hilarious and heart-rending cry for authenticity in a fast-changing world.
Sam: Caucasian, often wears a beat up red Sox cap, used to be very into metal.
Avery: African-American, in love with movies.
Rose: Caucasian, sexually magnetic despite the fact (or partly because) her clothes are baggy, never wears make up, and has dyed hair.
Skyler/The dreaming man: an employee and a sleeping customer.
*Because this is a staged reading there will be a shorter rehearsal time and no need to memorize lines.*
