The Enchanted Cape – drama therapy in prisons

By April 10, 2015CATS

Join us on Sunday, April 12th at 7:00 in the K-State Union Room 207 for an evening exploring Drama Therapy work being done in prisons.

The Enchanted Cape is the product of a 17-week program provided at a maximum security prison for women in Florida. Through expressive arts workshops, a group of 14 incarcerated women created a one act musical based on fairy tales and the lies those tales told us as kids. LaVonne Canfield, graduate student in Drama Therapy, facilitated the workshops and will be presenting a film of the production. Both funny and poignant, this film will surely leave you with a new perspective on the power of art to change individuals and the communities they live in. A brief Q & A will follow.
