The Lir – National Academy of Dramatic Art at Trinity College Dublin is running a four week Acting and Irish Theatre course for international students who are currently undertaking drama/theatre/acting training.
The course is taking place 18th July – 12th August 2016 and it is aimed at students who are interested in expanding, exploring and deepening their awareness of Irish theatre. It is an intensive submersion into Irish plays and playwrights including Seán O’Casey, J.M. Synge and Brian Friel as well as more contemporary writers like Tom Murphy, Conor McPherson and Marina Carr.
Our tutors are not only teachers at The Lir but they are directors, dramaturgies and voice specialists who continually work in the Irish and UK theatre scene. We have had a number of US based actors in training who have undertaken the course already and have thoroughly enjoyed it.
One of the main advantages of undertaking this course is that it is worth 10 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System), which on average has translated into six credits in American universities from each university
The course costs €2,250 which includes tuition as well as trips to see live theatre performed at Dublin’s historic theatres such as The Abbey and The Gate. Accommodation for the duration of the course can be arranged for students through Trinity College Dublin, or students are welcome to arrange their own.
