Over 150 guests enjoyed the series kickoff concert of Chamber Music Kansas on Sunday, Sept. 21. Hosted by historic Union Hall downtown, the program featured string chamber works by W.A. Mozart, Kenji Bunch and P.I. Tchaikovsky. Students from the Manhattan High School Chamber Orchestra gave a prelude performance under the direction of K-State alumnus Cody Toll.
Chamber Music Kansas was founded by K-State faculty members Dr. Madeleine Jansen (violin) and Dr. Syneva Colle Hernández (cello). The mission of this new organization is to bring outstanding chamber music performances to diverse audiences in an approachable setting. Jansen and Colle were joined in Sunday’s performance by Dr. Rachel Dirks of K-State, and guests artists Eva Dove, Dr. Tonya Burton and Elena Kolbrek.
The series is supported by the K-State College of Arts and Sciences, and the Kansas Arts Commission. To learn about upcoming concerts on this series, visit www.chambermusickansas.com.
