Starting Sunday, September 30th, TAP will be sponsoring monthly script readings. There will be an informal reading of two scripts- one will always try to feature a new play; which helps to keep students up-to-date with new playwrights, acclaimed work, or “edgy” pieces that K-State may not otherwise have an opportunity to perform. The other will be something just for fun!
This month’s readings will be “Clybourne Park” by Bruce Norris, and the script from the movie, “Mean Girls”.
We’ll be reading them at 1020 Bluemont Ave. #201 (Diana & Joey’s apartment) at 6:30 pm on Sept. 30th. We encourage you to bring some snacks/drinks to share.
HOW TO BE IN THE READINGS:
If you would like to be in the reading, please post your name in the comments below, and we will randomly draw names for the roles. You don’t have to be a performance major, and most of the roles will be gender- and race-blind casting.
*PLEASE BE AWARE– We will typically ask the readers to pay for their script! It will always be less than $10, and we will order them online for you. It’s important for anyone serious about theatre to be continuously expanding their personal library of plays, AND it’s too expensive for us to buy all the scripts! Please… don’t sign up unless you are able to pay the small script fee.
Roles available: “Mean Girls”- about 15 gender-blind roles. (If a man’s name is drawn for Regina George; so be it!)
“Clybourne Park”- 4 men, 3 women, 1 person to read stage directions
We’ll take the first 30 names and draw roles- so sign up quick!
