Last year Theatre students formed Purple Readers Project in order to keep work in their hands and to offer opportunities for students to explore performance in a low stakes, low pressure environment that does not require extensive time commitment. In fact, most Purple Readers Project works only have a handful of rehearsals and are performed as READINGS! We did readings and performances of television scripts, animated scripts, obscure plays, the Star Wars Holiday Special, Evil Dead the Musical, Dr. Horrible’ Sing-A-Long Blog as well as some immersive, site specific work.
Friday, September 1st at 4:30pm we will be having an informational meeting. We will meet in the lobby of Nichols and then go outside to chat and discuss Purple Readers! At this meeting we will inform you on how the group functions, our first two readings, and how you can become involved!
Most importantly you DON’T need to be a Theatre major to participate. Bring your friends! Check out the Purple Readers facebook page to see video and pics of our past projects! It’s all about having fun and keeping students engaged in live performance!
