PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
This course is designed to introduce students to the history,
culture and politics of modern Mexico. The majority of course
instruction will take place in Mexico. Students enrolled in the
“Heritage Study Abroad to Mexico: Raíces and Herencias-Roots
and Heritages” will also be required to attend on-campus
pre-departure orientation and post-travel debriefing sessions.

The program schedule is designed to expose students to a
wide-range of socio-cultural and socio-political experiences while
traveling throughout Mexico. In the Bajío region of Mexico we
will tour Guanajuato, Mexico where we will visit a mummy
museum and in Queretaro visit historically significant locations
commemorating the Mexican Revolution of 1910. In Mexico City
we will visit several museums including the National Anthropology
Museum, the Fine Art Museum (Bellas Artes), Frida Kahlo
and Leon Trotsky Museums, the Casa del Barragán and the
national archaeological site of Teotihuacán. In central Mexico we
will travel to Puebla, Mexico and meet faculty at the private
University of UPAEP and tour one of the largest Volkswagen
plants in the Americas.
CREDIT
Upon successful completion of the course, students
will earn 3-6 undergraduate or graduate K-State
credits in DAS 350.
ELIGIBILITY
This program is open to KSU and non-KSU credit
seeking students, and also non-credit
participants.
Instructor permission and a minimum 2.5 GPA
