READERS’ THEATRE
Short Stories and Plays
SPRING SEMESTER
This class brings literature from the “page to the stage.”
Students will learn how to create cuttings of short stories and one-act plays and turn them into the Readers’ Theatre format.
Each student will stage their pieces using other students in the class will as the readers. Staging will utilize stools or blocks. All students will participate as readers. No memorization is required.
No acting or directing experiences is necessary, just an appreciation of literature and of the impact of bringing the written word to the stage.
Final projects will be presented in an evening performance on the Nichols Stage to an invited audience.
