Kansas Board of Regents Social Media Policy

By May 9, 2014May 15th, 2015News

Students, this is an important note from Dr. Al Cochran in Music and Dr. Julia Keen, Faculty Senate President.

IF THE UNIVERSITY SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY IS IMPORTANT TO YOU:

Your attendance is very important at the Kansas Board of Regents next week Wednesday (May 14).  A revised social media policy is on the agenda Click Here, Go to Page 32 to be voted on by the full board.  I do not know if the presence of many will influence the vote but I do know it will send a clear message that we are not in support of this policy.  I do not think this is important for the Board as much as it is for the reputation of K-State and our ability to attract talent.  I know the press and media will be at this meeting.  If the images that are published are of a nearly empty room, what does it say about our position on this policy and the significance of what is being imposed on us by the Regents who are supposed to serve as advocates to higher education?  I recognize this as a very busy time of year but I ask you to devote next Wednesday afternoon to travel to Topeka.  The KBoR meeting begins at 1:30.  I support anyone who attends to walk out following the vote on the social media policy (item V.B on the agenda).

I truly believe that your attendance at this meeting is critical.  I welcome you to sign up on this doodle poll. Its intent is to identify individuals who plan to attend, in order to assist in your coordination of transportation. Signing up is not required; we welcome your presence regardless.  This is an open meeting so all are welcome to attend.
