“Somewhere: A New Musical” Opens Friday in Kansas City
SOMEWHERE, with book & lyrics by Brent Weaver, and music by current MTD student Sterling Matthew Oliver, premieres this Friday, July 20th in Kansas City at the Arts Asylum as part of the Kansas City Fringe Festival.
SOMEWHERE also features current MTD students Trace Campbell & Charlotte Benjamin, MTD Alum DJ Davis, and Roxy Hopkins. The show is being produced by MTD alum Shannon Madden, and directed by Sterling Matthew Oliver.
In SOMEWHERE, an LGBT dramedy, two best friends move from Kansas to Chicago after reckonings in their personal lives leave them questioning who they are and where they belong. They soon realize, however, that moving to a new city doesn’t mean you escape your problems. As these problems catch up with them, our characters must confront how the situations in their lives shaped them into who they became—and decide who they want to become in the future.
