The Peninsula Players, America’s oldest professional resident summer theater, is now accepting applications for 2019 summer intern positions.

We seek ten college/university students or recent graduates with technical or administrative interests to become members of our company beginning in late May or early June 2019. In addition, some staff positions will become available to summer interns in September for the Fall Season closing late October 2019.

Administrative Interns will concentrate on all aspects of theater operations including public relations, marketing, house management, box office management, and assist the Managing Director, Business Manager, Box Office Manager and the Development and Events Coordinator.

Production Interns areas of concentration includes stage carpentry, electrics, sound, costume construction, wardrobe, properties, scene painting. All interns will have an opportunity to hang lights for all five productions.

Production Interns will rotate three or four times between technical and administrative areas. We are also looking for two to three production interns to have a very focused internship in our scene shop. Up to three production interns will have the chance to rotate as an assistant stage manager and work with our professional Equity Stage Manager, Assistant Stage Manager and Actors in rehearsal. Interns will be involved on a daily basis with building and running our five-show season, each with a two to three-week run. Production interns participate in all areas of production including pre-show assignments and show duties that include light and sound board operation, an A2 position for the musical, deck crew, follow spot operators, props and wardrobe crew. Show duties are determined by which shop an intern works in. For example, if an intern is in the costume shop building a show, that intern will run wardrobe for that production as well.

We have made a change to our production intern rotations this season. For most interns, two of the rotations will be two productions long. We feel this will give interns an opportunity to learn new skills in a few shops and then during the second production of that rotation, they can apply the learned skills while learning more advanced skills in that shop. For our scenic focused interns, you will have the opportunity to work alongside our professional scene shop staff on four of the five productions, learning different scenery types and best industry practice building techniques.

During pre-show of each performance, Interns and staff work in the concession stand and Beer Garden, Will Call, Box Office, direct traffic in the parking lots, and manage the house.

Credit for the Equity Membership Candidate Program may be gained for assistant stage managers through production work at the Peninsula Players. Interns who make arrangements with their college/university may earn college credits. Peninsula Players believes in providing a well-rounded experience for our interns, which is why we have created our workshop program. Five workshops will be held during the summer and fall with members of our professional company. For example, last season our Artistic Director Greg Vinkler did mock interview with all of our interns. We also had a panel with some of our experienced staff and designers about how to get started in the theater business as well as how to make a living at it.

The Peninsula Players provides free room and board for all interns and a weekly stipend of $100. Housing is located on the theater’s beautiful grounds along the shore of Green Bay. Daily meals  are provided in the Players Lodge.
