Ever wonder how the theatres we work in today came to be? Or ever think about the fact that the structure of the theatre has influenced the way that the space is used? I will be teaching a History of Stage Design class in the spring that will explore the evolution of theatre spaces and how those spaces influenced, and were influenced by, designers and playwrights. We will be focusing specifically on architecture and scenic design, although there will be some reference to costume and lighting as well. We will even have a couple of forays into non-Western theatre traditions.
The class meets MWF from 3:30-4:20pm.
