Dear Students,
As a result of curriculum changes, Theatre 080 (Theatre Forum) and Theatre 162 (Concepts of Theatre Production) are now cancelled. These classes are no longer required and will no longer be offered. That said, if you have not completed your required 2 semesters of Forum and 1 semester of Concepts, continue reading as the following is very important and impacts you.
If you have completed 2 semesters of Theatre Forum and 1 semester of Concepts, please ignore the following message.
If you have NOT completed 2 semesters of Theatre Forum and 1 semester of Concepts of Theatre Production, you are now REQUIRED to enroll in Theatre 270: Introduction to Theatre. Theatre 270 will now serve as a combination of Forum and Concepts. The class is a 3 hour course and is REQUIRED for graduation for all students who have not completed their Forum and Concepts requirement.
The class is offered Fall 2018 and Spring 2019. The on-line and summer offering of 270 will NOT count for Majors.
The faculty believes that having an all-inclusive, required Intro course will educationally benefit students so that all undergrad Theatre majors will have a foundational understanding of the dynamics of Theatre before taking other courses in the program’s sequence.
Starting in the Fall, Theatre 270: Introduction to Theatre will be required for all incoming Theatre majors to take their first year at K-State.
That said, regardless of your standing in the program, if you have not completed 2 semesters of Forum and 1 semester of Concepts you are required to take Intro to Theatre.
Please consult your DARS to see that you have successfully completed (and passed) 2 semesters of FORUM and 1 semester of CONCEPTS. If you have not fulfilled those, you MUST take Theatre 270.
How This Impacts You as a Student:
1. Have you taken and passed 2 semesters of Forum and 1 semester of Concepts? If you have, you do not need to take any action.
2. Have you taken 1 semester of Concepts and 1 semester of Forum? You need to enroll in Theatre 270.
3. What if you have no semesters of Forum and 1 semester of Concepts? You still need to take Theatre 270.
4. What if you have 2 semesters of Forum and no semesters of Concepts? You still need to take Theatre 270.
5. What if you have not taken Forum or Concepts? You need to take Theatre 270.
All students currently enrolled in 080 and 162 will be dropped as the course is cancelled. It is up to each student to add Theatre 270 to their schedule. Simply go to your Student Center and add the below 5 digit number to your shopping cart.
Theatre 270 is MWF 9.30-10.20. The number to enter into your shopping cart is 12729.
