When it comes to medieval swordfights, the first step is recognizing that Hollywood really doesn’t understand how swords and armor work. But what if I told you that we have access to swordfighting manuals written by masters of the art going back to the 14th century? With just a bit of understanding of these techniques and tricks along with the principles of stage combat, you’ll impress even the staunchest history nerd (which is very possibly me).
There’ll be two workshops, held 2/22 and 2/24 at 1:30 in Chapman. All are welcome, though I recommend attending the first in order to get more from the second. No experience necessary, just be willing to pick up a stick and resist the urge to swing it!
