Calling All Actors for 24-Hour Play Fest

Calling all actors for April 11-12!

KSTO is hosting the second annual 24-Hour Play Festival and we are seeking 20 actors to participate!

How does a 24-Hour Play Festival work? Glad you asked! On Friday, April 11 at 6:30PM (to avoid conflict with any rehearsals) 5 directors, 5 playwrights, and 20 actors will meet in the Purple Masque with ideas, props, and excitement. Over the next 24 hours, 5 plays will be developed between these 30 players and at 7:30PM on Saturday, April 12, the plays will be performed for an audience! This is an exercise in exquisite pressure and practice for preparing art in a short amount of time. Outside of those two days, no commitment is asked of any of the participants. The point is to write and prepare everything within a 24 hour window, challenging us all as students and artists.

What is your obligation as an actor? Besides being asked to show up and work, be courteous and kind (as all MTD students are), and to tolerate the other 5 people you’re shut in a room with for an entire day, each actor is only asked to bring 3 props to the initial meeting. These props can be anything you can get your hands on and don’t have to have anything to do with one another. They must be things you can leave overnight and are comfortable allowing others to use at their discretion.

And that’s it! It’s simple, it’s fun, and it’s challenging. If you would like to participate, please sign up by commenting below. This is the only way to sign up in order to keep our list of names altogether and keep track of the number of slots left.
