Auditions: Gypsy April 10th and 11th

GYPSY
A Musical Fable,  Book by Arthur Laurents
Music by Jule Styne      Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim
Suggested by memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee
After June and Louise’s childhood stardom on the vaudeville circuit thanks to their pushy mother who lives vicariously through their success, the once talented and enthusiastic June decides to step back from show business, contrary to her mother’s wishes. As the popularity of the vaudeville era fades, Louise, the quiet and reserved sister, lands a surprising role in a racy burlesque show set in Wichita, Kansas. When the lead burlesque dancer is arrested, Louise drops her shyness, along with a shoulder strap and begins her transformation from shy, little Louise, to the sexy and sophisticated “Gypsy Rose Lee.”
