Auditions for “Working” (Fall Musical)

By April 12, 2021News
Taped auditions are now being accepted for the fall musical! Any K-State student is welcome to submit an audition.

WORKING 2012
Book by Stephen Schwartz and Nina Faso based on the Studs Terkel book Working: People Talk About What They Do All Day and How They Feel About What They Do (1974); music by Stephen Schwartz, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Craig Carnelia, Micki Grant, Mary Rodgers, and James Taylor, and lyrics by Schwartz, Carnelia, Grant, Taylor, and Susan Birkenhead.

The cast will consist of 6 Women and 6 Men (subject to change) who will tackle numerous monologues and songs.  The assignments will be made once the cast is selected.

If cast, it will be imperative that you get measurements completed with the costume shop before summer break.  Scheduling will be available immediately upon casting.  Be aware that rehearsals will begin one-week prior to fall classes on August 16 with tech the week of September 18-23.  Performances are September 23-26 and September 30-October 3.

Please submit a minimum of 32 bars of a Broadway or pop song in the style of the musical and a maximum one-minute contemporary monologue.  All submissions are due by midnight Monday, April 26.  It is acceptable to sing from the show.  Due to current safety protocols, there will not be callbacks.

Submissions should be uploaded to the auditions page on Canvas; if you auditioned this spring, you should have access to that page. (There will also be a vocal score for the show on Canvas.) If you did not previously submit an audition and would like to audition for “Working”, please contact David Mackay and he will grant you access.
