Join Actors Theatre of Louisville as an Education Intern and Teaching Artist and contribute to creating nearly 30,000 artistic/learning experiences for young people annually. Serve as an artistic/education ambassador throughout our region’s public and private schools conducting preshow workshops and playwriting residencies. Develop lesson plans, research and write study guides, and collaborate with numerous other departments at Actors Theatre. Additionally, help organize, host and produce the Humana Festival College Days Weekend and the New Voices Young Playwrights Festival. Ideal candidates have experience teaching and / or working with youth. Reliable car is a must. An additional small teaching artist stipend and mileage reimbursement are provided. Internships Offered: Full Season (Late July/Early August through late April).
Application Deadline: April 1 st , 2012 with interviews starting March 1 st . Applicants are encouraged to submit their application as soon as possible. Additionally, we will conduct in-person interviews during the College Days weekend (March 16 th -18 th , 2012).
Materials Required: Please include a résumé, a sample lesson plan and a two page critical writing sample. We’re interested in your ability to communicate original ideas in a clear, easy, non-academic tone (though appropriate college papers are fine). Please also include two letters of recommendation from references who can speak to your teaching experience or experience working with young people. References should be sure to include contact information in their letters.
