There are opportunities still available in acting courses for Spring 2017. Remember that Voice and Movement are mandatory courses for any student pursuing excellence in performance.
Theatre 300: Vocal Expression for Actors
If you are a student with a performance emphasis, this course is HIGHLY recommended. The emphasis is on breath support, articulation and regional accent reduction with some preliminary lessons on the international phonetic alphabet. The acting material includes monolgues and commercial copy for voiceover work. Taught by Jennifer Vellenga.
Theatre 783: Practice in Acting is now open to first year students who have completed Fundamentals of Acting (261). This is a unique opportunity for students to work with faculty and student directors to stage scenes and one-acts, modeling the production process. In other words, this course allows you to gain a great deal of experience as a performer. Taught by Jerry Jay Cranford. To gain permission to the class, please contact Jay jjcranford@ksu.edu.
It is expected that all students take the core acting sequence in the following order:
- Fundamentals of Acting
- Intermediate Acting
- Advanced Acting (advanced content rotates: Shakespeare, On-Camera, Musical Theatre, etc.)
Practice in Acting (783) is supplementary. It is expected that all performance emphasis students also take Vocal Expression and Stage Movement during their time at K-State. Improvisation is also recommended.
