As you settle into your summer, please note that we have a few new positions to announce for 2018-2019:
Dr. Melissa Briggs, Assistant Professor of Drama Therapy, comes to us from Emporia State where she has taught in the Counseling Education department since 2014. Additionally, Dr. Briggs serves as a licensed clinical professional counselor at in-patient facilities and in private practice. Dr. Briggs received her Ph.D. in Counselor Education in 2013 from K-State, and her M.S. in Community Counseling and B.A. in Psychology from Pittsburg State. Her research interests include creative arts/expressive treatment and play therapy interventions, self-injury, and counselor self-care.
Jo Sanburg, Instructor of Light and Sound Design, has worked in professional and educational theatre for over 30 years as a designer, stage director, music director, and stage manager. She just completed a MFA in Design and Technology from the University of Memphis and also holds a B.A. in Music and Education from Loretto Heights College.
LaVonne Canfield will be back with us this fall as Instructor of Stage Management. LaVonne has been serving as an Instructor in Theatre this year. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts – Theatre from Florida International University, a Master of Arts in Theatre: Drama Therapy from Kansas State University, and Post-graduate Certificate in Trauma Studies from the Justice Resource Institute, Boston, MA. She has professional experience as a stage manager, actor, and director. LaVonne will lend her expertise in mentoring student stage managers as well as teaching courses in stage management and acting.
