Nominations for the AREX EHRSAM AWARD are now being accepted.
Arex Ehrsam was a former K-State student who was greatly dedicated to his involvement to the Speech & Drama Department as well as the K-State Players before his premature death in 1987 at the age of 24.
In his honor, the Theatre Department annually gives the Arex Award to a student. This award is based upon nominations by the students. The award of $100 and his/her name engraved on the Arex plaque (located in the lobby of Nichols Hall) will be presented to a student who has shown through their participation in theatre (technical, management, performance, and/or design) their dedication, loyalty, and support of the Department of Theatre at KSU.
The Arex Award seeks to embody spirit whilst remembering Arex’s participation and support of the Theatre Program at Kansas State University. It is our hope that the process the KSU Theatre Students go through to designate this honor will be as important as the actual award. It can be a time to reflect on what we consider valuable and admirable in the students that work in this program.
There are many worthy candidates. Please, take the time to write a few words for someone you think is deserving of this award.
Please email your nomination to Dwight Tolar, dhtolar@ksu.edu, by May 2.
The nominator will remain anonymous.
Nominations will be posted on the theatre call board for viewing and student voting will occur at the May 3 TAP meeting (time yet to be determined).
Nomination Guidelines:
• Nominees must have been active in KSU Theatre for two or more semesters.
• Nominations should be as concise as possible (around 100 words).
• Only students are eligible to vote.
• In case of a tie, only those who voted the first time will be eligible to vote to break the tie.
• The scholarship is not dependent upon other scholarships.
