Yet the less insightful Robert Trussell of the KC Star wrote just this weekend of the Rep’s choice below. The KC Rep programs 3,4 or MORE new works each season alongside reinvented classic pieces and of course A CHRISTMAS CAROL. The Unicorn has a different mission statement and is a MUCH smaller venue. As Trussell is well aware, the Unicorn has suffered some very difficult times in staying true to their vision. The Rep must appeal to a broader, more commercial base. It is a business and Eric Rosen has been doing a fairly good job at mixing great commercial success with unusual, new pieces having even produced some of those new works off-Broadway! It angered me.
