Job Description
Curator Internship Job Description:
The Columbian is seeking an energetic, reliable, creative Intern Curator who will be involved by overseeing the collection, and displays of both The Columbian Theatre and OZ Museum. This is an intensive, fun-filled, and creative project. This is a 15 hour a week internship & the intern is expected to be available 3 days a week for 5 hours each day. The successful applicant will receive a $105 weekly stipend. They will report directly to the Executive Director. The internship is 14 weeks in length and runs between May 18th and August 21st 2015.
Curating (Columbian Theatre & OZ Museum):
- Cataloging Foundation collections and collections on loan
- Researching collections, interpretation, maintaining records, overseeing proper storage, handling and repair of collection
- Striving in all aspects to maintain museum standard practices
Display Designer (Columbian Theatre & OZ Museum):
- Responsible for interpreting, planning and executing the exhibits, which includes the construction of displays etc.
- This includes managing all aspects of establishing, building and branding the gallery and updating the Oz displays
- Responsible for creating 3 exhibits at the OZ Museum
- Maintaining the gallery/OZ Museum’s visual order through the art work, labels and lighting
Qualifications:
- Intern must possess excellent verbal, written and communicative skills
- Intern must possess creative ideas to create displays
- Intern must be proficient in Publisher, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Compensation:
$105 weekly stipend for a 15-hour workweek (3 days a week, 5 hours a day), paid biweekly.
