It’s the most wonderful time of the year…time for 24 Hour Play Festival!! KSTO will be hosting the third annual 24 Hour Play Festival on Saturday April 4th, with the initial meeting happening the night before (Friday April 3rd).
How does a 24-Hour Play Festival work? Glad you asked! On Friday, April 3, a company of actors, directors, and playwrights will meet with ideas, props, and excitement. Over the next 24 hours, new plays will be developed by this company and at 7:30PM on Saturday, April 4, the plays will be performed for an audience! This is an exercise in exquisite pressure and practice for preparing art in a short amount of time. Outside of those two days, no commitment is asked of any of the participants. The point is to write and prepare everything within a 24 hour window, challenging us all as students and artists.
If you would like to be: 1. A playwright 2. A director or 3. An actor comment below. A list will be compiled, and those who will be partaking in the play festival will be informed by this Monday, March 9th.
Basic timeline for each
1. Playwrights will begin writing immediately after the initial meeting and have until 7 a.m. to complete the script
2. Directors will come in around 8 a.m. to do a read through and initial blocking of the play they are assigned to.
3. Actors will arrive around 9 a.m. and begin work putting together the show
