On Sunday, May 10 at 3:30 p.m. in All Faiths Chapel, Craig B. Parker will perform his last KSU solo recital after 44 years on the Kansas State University faculty. He will be assisted by his K-State colleagues pianist Amanda Arrington, soprano Amy Rosine, mezzo soprano Patricia Thompson, and flutist Colleen White.
Compositions to be performed include “Frenetic Dream” (2000) by HyeKyung Lee, “United in the Melody of Arirang” (2025) by EunHye Kim, “Dear Mummy and Sister” (1962, rev. 2018), “In Search Of . . .” (1996) by Barbara Bennett, “50 + 50 Trumpet Triathlon” (2007) by Don Bowyer, “Dippermouth Blues” (1923) by Louis Armstrong and “King” Joe Oliver, “Twilight Dreams” (1914) by Herbert L. Clarke, and “Dance Variations” (1973-74) by Brian Israel. Also on the recital will be the first complete performance of Parker’s song cycle, “The Grass Menagerie” (1971), performed by Patricia Thompson and Amanda Arrington.
