Dear Theatre Students,
Many of you have seen or experienced what happened on Bosco Plaza this week. I want to acknowledge clearly that this was harmful.
Language like that carries a long history of violence and dehumanization. Even when it is legally protected, it does not mean it is neutral or without impact. For many in our community, it lands personally.
I also want you to know this: you belong here.
If you are feeling unsettled, angry, or exhausted by this, that response makes sense. Take care of yourselves and each other, and please reach out if you need support or space.
In our classrooms and rehearsal rooms, we will continue to build an environment rooted in respect, care, and accountability. That work matters, especially in moments like this.
