Jordan Harrison (born 1977) is an American playwright best known for Marjorie Prime, a finalist for the 2015 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Raised on Bainbridge Island, Washington, he earned degrees from Stanford University and Brown University, where he studied with Paula Vogel. His plays include Kid-Simple, Act a Lady, Maple and Vine, The Grown-Up, The Amateurs, and Log Cabin. Marjorie Prime, which explores memory and artificial intelligence, premiered in 2014 and was later adapted into a 2017 film starring Lois Smith, Jon Hamm, Geena Davis, and Tim Robbins. Harrison has also written musicals such as The Flea and the Professor and Suprema and contributed to the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black. Known for his inventive, idea-driven works, he has been praised for creating what critics call “cerebral playgrounds.”
