Theatre students attended the annual Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival in Des Moines January 19-25, 2025. Thousands of students from across the region attend. K-State students presented research and participated in workshops and masterclasses.
Student playwrights were recognized. Emmett Spaw’s ten minute play “Indivisive” was a semi-finalist in the Gary Garrison National Ten Minute play contest. It received a production at the festival. He placed second out of 113 entries.
Student playwrights Dominic Moore and GeriAnne Meals had their one-act plays performed at a reading and were recognized. The captured first and second places with “How Could I Ever Forget” by Dominic Moore and “Sincerely, Winnie” by GeriAnne Meals. Last year Nikela Reed was recognized for their play “Occidimus.” This year Nikela Reed presented her lighting designs.
