SUMMER JOB: RUNNER/PRINCIPLE CREW ASSISTANT FOR GRRRL NUTCRACKER FILM PRODUCTION – SHOOTING SUMMER 2025 Schedule subject to change slightly

Experience in film, dance or theater tech required.

Rehearsal/shoot in rural barn. Alma, KS.

Fee $2000. Gas reimbursed round-trip home to Alma Barn.

Job description: Must have own car. Assist director and key crew: cameramen, lighting director and stage manager. Run errands for supplies as needed. Assist load in/load out barn: help to carry and set up lighting instruments and tripods, sound, set (5 items), props (12 items and might include picking up and returning 6 items from Alma Museum), blackouts on windows, wardrobe room set up (tables chairs, mirrors, extension cords for clip on lights), dressing room set up (chairs, dowel for hanging clothes, extension cords for clip on lights), prop table set up, iphone social media station set up, snack table set up, and assist in 2 minor set changes during the shoot. Assist in loading in/out Christmas tree(s) and help to decorate, maintain and operate the pulley system used to turn tree upside down to fly up to rafters and shoot when it spins like a tornado.

Daily: Responsible for social media phone charging. Responsible for gimbal charging. Responsible for carrying water from pump just outside barn to the snack table inside barn. Assist stage manager installing and removing barres and marley dance floor. Sweep/mop stage floor as needed with stage manager.  Run errands if needed (anything not immediately needed can be done in the afternoon or on weekends). Assist director, lighting director, cameramen, stage manager. Responsible cue to stop Flashing Christmas tree lights: Scene Act 1 Scene 10 Part 2A.

6/4/2 +7/30/25: Pick up sandwiches for 9 cast/crew.

7/10/+ 7/11/25:Pick up sandwiches for 5 crew

Potentially drive a dancer to/from rehearsal/shoot occasionally. TBD. Gas reimbursed.

BASIC SCHEDULE MON- FRI May 20-AUG 1, 2025

Note the barn is not air-conditioned but stays cool due to very high roof and very thick limestone walls. Temperature measured last summer.

8:15-1:30 Rehearsal days

8:15-2:30 Shoot days.

May 27, 2025 First day rehearsal in barn.

July 4,5,6, 2025 OFF

July 30, 2025 Last day shoot in barn.

6/1/25 All day as needed for light focus.

  1. 7/10/25 SET UP/NIGHT SHOOT AFTER REHEARSAL

2-7 Set up for storm scene

Rig tree for tornado.

Test swinging buffalo head.

Rig strobes on windows.

Put lights on stand up fan and test whirling

lights.

       7-8 Dinner in Alma paid by production.

       8-11 Set up/Shoot/Prep for next day rehearsal.

  1. 7/12/25 SET UP DIMENSION CHANGE SAT.

4:30-7 Set up. Remove Buffalo Head, small side

table and small fireplace and most props. Install large fireplace. Set up large package.

Pack up and store or trash Act 1 items no longer needed. 

Move 3-4 specials and refocus those lights.

7-8 Dinner in Alma paid by production.

8-10:30 Hold if dimension change is not finished.

Hang Globe with LED lights and test electricity running to it.
