Jackson Berland – The Heart/Roots Project and Northwestern University http://thevollandstore.com/heart-roots-wabaunsee-county-2/
“I am working as a Faculty Associate for the National High School Institute at Northwestern, aka the Cherubs program. I get to work right alongside some of Chicago’s best teaching artists facilitating a creative habitat for incredibly bright high school students. I’ve had the chance to work with artists from the Steppenwolf, the Lookingglass, the NeoFuturists, the Walkabout, DePaul University, and Northwestern University!”
Maggie Billman – Colombian Theatre, Summer Camp and Director: Willy Wonka
“The Colombian Theater in Wamego hosts multiple children’s theatre academy throughout the year, and I am directing the second session of the Summer Theatre Academy. My wonderful music director and I have about 52 children aged 8 to 14 enrolled in the program and cast in Willy Wonka Jr. We began rehearsals on July 5 and will perform on July 29, 30, and 31. We rehearse each weekday from 1:00-4:00pm. I have an incredibly dedicated team of volunteers who are just so wonderful. They help with set, props, costuming, lighting, sound, marketing, and general entertainment and guardianship of the students. This has been a wonderful experience so far and has taught me tons about the theatrical process as well as working with students and parents. If you need more info or would like to purchase tickets, please visit the Colombian’s Website.”
