From MTD Director, Dr. Jeffrey Ward:
Dear MTD Students:
It is hard to believe that the last time we saw each other was the first week of March. Since that time, we have worked together in maintaining our community within the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance. Admittedly, it has been challenging, but I am excited for the day when we are back together again! While I certainly have high expectations for a great school year, it will certainly be unlike any we have experienced before.
I am grateful for a number of faculty who volunteered to serve on a MTD reopening committee to review COVID research and its impact on the performing arts. They have taken that research and developed a set of detailed guidelines, including how to get around our facilities, participate in classes, perform, and many other things as an addition to the protocols that the university as a whole has developed.
Eric Tinkler (tinkler19@ksu.edu), a music education senior, on behalf of the student body asked if we could have an opportunity for students to ask questions of me and the reopening committee – a marvelous idea! We have scheduled this for Monday, August 10 at 3:30pm via Zoom (see link and passcode below). The first hour will be spent as the entire school, followed by 30 minutes in your respective programs of music, theatre, and dance. If you have questions to pose, you can email them to Eric who is compiling them or come to the Zoom meeting and put them in the chat.

All the best,
Dr. Ward
