On Friday, February 15 from 9-4 in the Union Big 12 Room (with a lunch break from 12:00-1:30), composer Ricky Ian Gordon will be at Kansas State University for the Kansas National Association of Singing Winter Workshop. You are welcome to come in at any time.
He will discuss with students and faculty the joys and challenges that come with each new composition – from instrumentation, selecting a text, what to do when you realize you are stuck in a rut, to finding inspiration. He will also be hearing his own compositions sung by students of Kansas NATS teachers.
Although he writes for voice, his compositions range from solo works to those for the stage, and he includes dance in several pieces, too. (http://www.rickyiangordon.com)
