Hey team!
It’s time for 24-Hour Play Festival!! KSTO will be hosting the fourth annual 24 Hour Play Festival on Saturday, March 26th with the initial meeting happening the night before (Friday, March 25th).
How does a 24-Hour Play Festival work exactly? Glad you asked! On Friday, March 25th, a company of 5 directors, 5 playwrights, and 20 actors will meet with ideas, props, and loads of excitement! Over the next 24 hours, new plays will be developed by this company and at 7:00PM on Saturday, March 26th, the plays will be performed for an audience! This is an exercise in exquisite pressure and practice for preparing art in a short amount of time. Outside of these two days, no commitment is asked of any of the participants. The point is to write and prepare EVERYTHING within a 24 hour window, challenging us all as students and artists. It’s so exciting!
If you would like to be a playwright, a director, OR an actor then please comment below. This year we are allowing co-playwrights. So if you want to, you may write as a team! But no co-directing teams please. A list will be compiled, and those who will be partaking in the play festival will be informed by Monday, March 21st.
Basic timeline for each
1. Playwrights will begin writing immediately after the initial meeting on March 25th and have until 7 a.m. to complete their scripts.
2. Actors and directors will arrive around 9 a.m. on March 26th and begin putting together the show!
3. At 7:00 p.m. on March 26th, the “curtain” goes up! The performance will be open to the entire Manhattan community.
Please comment below with your name and what you would like to do for this year’s play fest!
