Thursday, May 22 6:00 pm – The Opera House Academy: Vocal Training with David Malis
David Malis has 30 years of experience in professional singing and vocal music instruction. He has taught voice and coached/directed operatic repertoire worldwide as head of Gli Apprendisti at the Opera Theater of Lucca in Lucca, Italy, for Oberlin in Italy in Urbania, Italy, and for the University of Miami in Salzburg, Austria. His training specializes in healthy vocal technique, classical music, musical theater and Italian, German and French diction. Whether one’s goal is the MET or a local school or church choral group, Vocal Training with David Malis is designed to give any singer improved confidence in their singing technique. He will listen to singers sing any type of material they choose in a small group setting and coach them individually. The cost per participant is $20; students are invited to bring any type of music to sing – Broadway, pop, opera, original compositions – and pianist Joe Markley will be on hand to accompany. Those wishing to observe the class, but not sing in front of the group, will be admitted for $5.
