Summer Class: Intro to Theatre (or, Read Some Great Plays!)

By March 27, 2015News

This summer Introduction to Theatre will be offered. It is a theatre appreciation course that covers the ins and outs of theatre, while also diving into some of the history of theatre. It is NOT required for Theatre majors, but it is a wonderful opportunity to read some new plays, develop a working vocabulary for theatre and develop a broader understanding of the varieties of theatre and performance out there. We read plays, see plays, and – yep – discuss plays! It is open to everyone, so encourage your friends to take it. Primarily this class functions as a way for students to learn and understand the processes involved in creating theatre and read some smashing plays along the way. The plays we read include: BAREFOOT IN THE PARK, MEDEA, DUTCHMAN, LARAMIE PROJECT, Caryl Churchill’s FAR AWAY, SUBURBIA, SPRING AWAKENING (the musical) and a few others.
