By January 14, 2018Theatre, Trip, Ticket Comps

A student development trip to New York City is being planned for eligible undergraduates for 3-4 days during March 16-25, 2018. Exact dates TBD. 6-8 students will be selected.

Eligibility to receive airfare, lodging and theatre tickets:

  • undergraduate Theatre majors
  • 2.5+ cumulative GPA with a strong record of good attendance in Theatre classes
  • At least 75 earned credits (juniors & seniors) and students who graduated in Dec. 2017
  • willing to write a donor “thank you” letter after the trip

Students who have taken the trip before are eligible, but will only be selected if not enough eligible students apply.

Preferred: 21 years old by March 17, 2018

If interested, please send an email to Jennifer Vellenga (vellenga@ksu.edu) describing your eligibility as listed above and why you should be selected to attend the trip. Include information on your past experience in NYC- if you have been there, describe your experience; if you have not, describe what you expect to learn.  Please be thoughtful about how the trip will enhance your education and further your goals. Two paragraphs are not enough to be reflective, four pages is probably too much.  Email due January 22, 2018.

Students are responsible for all meal expenses, additional theatre tickets, and incidentals (plan to budget at least $350).  Airfare, shared hotel accommodations (3-4 per room), and theatre tickets to at least one show are being funded by the Sandy Chastan Professional Development Fund.

Selected students will be notified by email the week of  Jan. 29, 2018.
