Musical Theatre Dance Intersession

This coming intersession, David Ollington will be offering Musical Theatre Dance, Dance 380. Please consider enrolling! It will be a 2 week intensive, December 29 through January 16, 10 a.m. until noon Monday through Friday (not meeting New Year’s Day).

The course, a requirement for the Dance Minor and the Theatre Major with a Dance Concentration, covers the history of Musical Theatre through dance. We will learn the waltz, the Can-Can, the Charleston, Vaudeville dance styles, the Samba, and 1940’s swing dance. Movement from the work of choreographers Agnes DeMille, Jack Cole, Jerome Robbins, Bob Fosse, and Michael Bennett will also be taught. The class include a lecture and film component.

For a prerequisite, you must have at least one semester of Ballet, Modern Dance, Jazz Dance, or Tap at K-State. Exceptions can be made if a student has a dance background. Please feel free to contact David Ollington with any questions via email at dollingt@k-state.edu.
