Maine State Music Theatre: Costume Intern

By January 23, 2012Internships, Jobs

Maine State Music Theatre is the process of hiring for the summer positions
alum, Amy Mussman, is specifically looking to fill an
intern position at MSMT Costumes. She is the Rentals Manager at MSMT in charge
of MSMT Costumes and Rentals.  Each summer they hire a person interested in
a rentals intern position working with and learning more about costumes in
general.

Working directly with Amy, the Rentals Intern would help pull costume rental
packages together and prepare the costumes for shipment; help restock
costumes; clean and repair costumes; and help me maintain the entire stock.
This is great for someone who loves to dabble with clothes and theatre.
When in the Theatre’s costume shop, the intern would do minor sewing (based
on skill) and help the costume team of six get the everything ready for Maine State Music Theatre’s summer shows: A
Chorus Line, Legally Blonde, Sunset Boulevard and 42nd Street. They really
want the intern to have a chance to be around costume construction and the
camaraderie of other staff members.

At Maine State Music Theatre, there’s a large intern company of at least 22.
Housing is provided for free. Transportation to and from housing is also
provided through Company Management, but interns are welcome to have a car.
Interns are given a weekly stipend. The Rentals Intern works Tuesday
through Friday 10am to 6pm at MSMT Costumes, and Saturday and Sunday
in the Theatre’s costume shop from 10am to 6pm.

The entire company has Mondays off and the
Fridays after opening night off, also. The interns usually have weekly seminars to attend.

May 21st is the arrival day and August 27th is departure day. However, university schedules can be negotiated,

Interns will be able to explore the town, Portland, the coast, eat Lobster, see
Steven King’s home, hike around Acadia National park, sunbathe, shop, hang
with friends, write letters home, have mom and dad visit, make new theatre
contacts… What’s better than spending the summer in Maine?!

Email a resume and letter of interest to Amy Mussman at rentals@msmt.org. Amy is anxious to hear from some K-State students!
