Kansas State Orchestra goes pops with contemporary violinist, Doug Cameron!

Want to see a truly inspirational, full-on pops show? Check out the Kansas State University Orchestra next Tuesday under the direction of Dr. David Littrell. Contemporary violinist, Doug Cameron, will be bringing his dynamic, electric blue violin to Manhattan to perform a concert with the orchestra. You’ll hear everything from Coldplay to Mumford and Sons, Riverdance to Charlie Daniels and everything in-between.
Cameron came to Kansas State to perform with the orchestra eleven years ago, and rocked the house with his unique, high-energy presentation and arrangements. “I loved performing with Dr. Littrell and this orchestra. I have done many concerts as a soloist with symphony orchestra, but the energy and enthusiasm from these young musicians was truly palpable!”
Cameron is primarily a jazz violinist/recording artist with 10 CDs to his credit. He has worked with many luminaries, including George Benson, Kansas, Doc Severinsen, Cher, Gregg Allman and renowned producer, David Foster. Many great jazz luminaries have appeared on his CDs, including Lee Ritenour, David Benoit, Joe Sample and others.
Along with the Kansas State University Orchestra, Dr. Littrell’s Gold and Silver Orchestras will be appearing on a few pieces along with Cameron. These orchestras comprise elementary to high school musicians. “It’s a great experience for these kids, and they light up the stage with their presence!” says Cameron.
We had Doug here ten years ago, and it was truly electric,” said Dr. Littrell. “It was just so exciting, and the kids were wild about it. If you like pops, this is a concert not to be missed!”
